InnovaTN – Tamil Nadu State ATL Innovation Challenge

InnovaTN is a flagship state-level innovation challenge designed to nurture creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among young minds across Tamil Nadu. Organized under the ATAL Innovation Mission (@AIMtoInnovate), this initiative provides a powerful platform for Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) students to develop prototypes and working models that address real-world community challenges.

About the Event

The InnovaTN 2024 – 2nd Edition marked the Tamil Nadu State ATL Hackathon, held on 21st August 2024 at Erode Sengunthar College, Erode.
This grand event brought together 517 teams from over 35 districts across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, showcasing the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and technology-driven solutions.

The event witnessed participation from:

  • InnovaTN representatives
  • Heads of leading institutions (schools and colleges)
  • Faculty mentors
  • Young innovators from various Atal Tinkering Labs

Together, they celebrated creativity and the power of innovation in shaping a better future.

Highlights of the Grand Finale

  • 124 finalist teams presented their innovative projects before an esteemed jury comprising Professors, CEOs, and representatives from AIC Raise, PECF, CODISSIA, and NIFTEA.

  • The top 20 teams were selected to advance to the Startup Incubation Program (SIP), providing them an opportunity to refine their ideas and transform them into scalable solutions.

  • Cash prizes and recognitions were awarded to outstanding projects that stood out for their innovation, social impact, and feasibility.

Outcomes & Impact

  • The InnovaTN Hackathon served as a catalyst for:

    • Encouraging creative problem-solving and design thinking among school students
    • Promoting awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
    • Building a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Tamil Nadu schools
    • Equipping students with future-ready skills to thrive in the evolving global workforce
